Just like all the Alex Cross books I have read by James Patterson, this one had me hooked immediately and kept me in suspense throughout the whole book. This is only the 2nd book I have read by him that is coauthored with somebody else. The first was Mike Lupica and they have another book coming out soon which is in my Amazon Wishlist.
Lion and Lamb are private investigators, and each are working for somebody else, but they are seeking the truth; Lion for the District Attorney and Lamb for the family who has been accused of murder. Both share information with each other, and there are also a lot of sparks and flirtation between them. They each have really smart techie assistants who gather information through any means possible. I can easily see more books on the horizon for these characters.
So, the murder is of a high-profile professional football player who is leading his team that weekend to the NFC Championship game where the winner will get a shot in the Super Bowl. A lot of potential murder suspects appear, and just when I thought they caught the person, I was proven wrong. Until the last few pages when somebody confesses, and the explanation was a good one.
