The Woman in Me – by Britney Spears

Posted on November 16, 2023 by Mark Lieberman

I am glad I read this one as I had no clue how bad her life was during the 13 years she was in a conservatorship, with her dad as the conservator. Her family took control of everything she did and she did it primarily because she knew if she just agreed, she would see her kids.

I can’t even imagine how she felt. She couldn’t even do a lot of normal things that normal people do on a daily basis. She made a lot of money during that time by touring around the world and doing her Vegas show, and she got a very small allowance.

I am so happy for her when she was able to get out of it and get her life back. I mean, I heard about it, but it was better in her words.

She got started singing and dancing officially at the age of 11 in the Mickey Mouse Club with Christina Aguilera, Keri Russell, Ryan Gosling, and Justin Timberlake (whom she dated for a while later on). How about that for some fancy names? By the age of 16, she signed with a record company and her first of many big hits was released when she was 18. She got famous quick and everybody especially, the paparazzi wanted a piece of her.

Overall, I enjoyed reading about her life and maybe she will have another memoir when she is older telling us all the awesome things she has done and how amazing her kids are since getting out of that stupid conservatorship.
