I got this hardcover book from the Book of the Month club. Yeah, I am first time member and a long time reader of books. I had a few choices from the club, and chose a Thriller. All I had was the description, and I was ready to solve some murders on a resort.
The book is written from the point of view of two very different females; Cass and Brooke. I won’t provide any spoilers, but I will say that Cass comes to the resort as a means of escaping her past and Brooke is searching for answers as she and Cass had met each other briefly while they were in college.
We are also introduced to a group called The Permanents: Doug, Neil, Logan, and Greta. They are expats who have claimed the island as their own. Logan and Cass are a couple and Neil and Brooke like each other.
So, there are three murders on the island, and just when I thought I figured it out, I was thrown for a loop.
I enjoyed the back and forth chapters from Brooke’s and Cass’s point of view. There are some details of mental illness and suicide from both of them.
Overall, I liked the book, and can easily see more in this series as two of the characters (I won’t say who), end up together at the end.
